Tami's
Story
back to 2005
On May 16, I received the following message from Tami Bobb, a friend of ours who had lived as a child for several years a few houses from us when we all lived in Paradise Camp in the mountains behind Santa Barbara, along the Santa Ynez River, and who now lives in the Bay Area:

So I scooted down to the river for a few days while the water was high. It was so beautiful. I then went to our friend's house by the Botanical Gardens (David's grade school friend, Nancy, and her husband) for a glass - or two - of wine. Her husband, Bob, was after rafting the Santa Ynez river a few times this winter/spring was so surprised that I actually grew up in the canyon, asked where I went to school, and I told them at Paradise School. Nancy then asked me if I remembered a black piano in the school. Well, no.She then finds a document (pix) attached, and we find that this beautiful piano in her house that her deceased husband had painstakingly stripped to it's original grandeur, was the black piano that was in the Community Hall. I almost fell over when I saw that it was "sold/sent" to you, Herman Brown!! We were all just shocked as hell at how small of a world it is when I said, "That's the piano I learned how to play Peter-Peter-Pumpkin-Eater on." Wow. Well, I obviously took pix and am sending it to you. It's too weird and a GREAT story!!! Take care and love to Cecelia and the girls!!
